new in / i

if you follow my instagram or twitter, you would have been aware that i got some very special burberry packages delivered to work recently (being surrounded by tech men meant it was a solo joyous dance)... and these are the goodies that were lurking in those beautiful boxes. they're an early christmas present (from myself to myself, and a little bit from my mama) and i couldn't be happier with what father christmas brought. i've been lusting after this perfect leather shearling biker since the summer, and now i earn money and shiz, i saved up and bought it. i'm horribly in love with it - the stitching of the upper arm of the sleeves, the removable shearling collar, its delightful leather smell, the grain of the leather and most importantly that the sleeve length is long enough for my monkey arms. sigh.

and here is part two of the order. my little rocco baby is a tad battered, i've used it consistently every single day since i bought it (i'm not so great at bag alternation) and i thought he should get a bit of time off. and so i've been searching for a barrel bag that was similar but not too similar. checklist was as follows - black (any other coloured bags and i are like any other coloured bags with babies armed with pens), hard-wearing, grainy leather (easier to be less kind to), multi-carry option (short handles + long strap) and obviously it had to be very handsome. i've been keen on the givenchy antigona in the grainy leather but it looked so pristine i was scared i'd destroy it, and also the medium céline boston (i'm still pretty sure that i might have to save up for him. too yummy to dismiss). anyway, i found this beaut at burberry and knew she was the one. it's a mix of canvas with suede (the all leather wouldn't last my non-gentleness) and it's just so wonderful. i nearly cried with happiness when my 1.5 litre bottle of evian fitted in even better than it did in rocco. i'm still in the honeymoon phase and am quite happy and sure knowing it will take a while to get out of.

hally hoop

(nike)

these are my new kicks that i got on saturday. if you follow me on instagram, this is yesterdays news but i only just got reacquainted with my camera (thanks pa) so the blog is a little slow on the uptake (and um i may have worn them for two days now so they're not as spangly as they were). soz. on the way to purchase these, tash warned me that i would become addicted to hi tops (she's been wearing hi tops for years - she is much cooler than me. i've been a little scared of day-wear trainers for most of my more fashionable adult life, only last year did i finally wear my converse out), and she is totes right. i love them. i used to be completely addicted to buying heels, don't get me wrong, they are shoe porn, but i just don't wear them enough (ever) for it to be justifiable anymore. so when i went through my post-uni 'i hate fashion' phase, i've become quite the scrooge when it comes to buying anything. i'm afraid if it's not got the wearbability, i won't touch it. it was funny, coming out of uni i was convinced i wanted to wear a pencil skirt and look a babe, but since working in the google campus and being a geek, i'm really getting into dressing - dare i say - comfortably cool. i think i look a little bit cool. you probs disagree. anyway, my poor mama is probably despairing at the thought of me in trainers (she moans at my converse because i have "lots of pretty shoes") but i'm all about cost per wear now and saving these pennies means i can buy far more extravagant investment pieces (i have two lined up... holla!).

bugs

was most excited yesterday that my new iPhone 5 case arrived. slightly annoyed i left my darn camera back in cambridge so all i've got is this beaut taken from my instagram. anyway, i hate phone covers but not when they make me look as grown-up as this one. i've already had one threat of "please don't get it out in public, i'll pretend i don't know you" but luckily for the threat-ee the tail can pop off so all embarrassing situations are avoided. i got it in smoke grey - i tend to mention that i hate colour, but i did contemplate the red/pink version, but i wasn't sure how much it would have damaged my street cred. as i said on my instagram, i'm hoping to be taken most seriously at the office today. i'm sure my fellow google campus-ers will be most jealous.

new child

i am quite the happy bean this week, so not only have i finished school forever but i have acquired a new bag baby. her name is jane, she is beautiful. sally and i poodled along to the selfridges sale after she finished work and we both saw the alexander wang bag sale stand. there really is nothing quite as exciting as that, well actually if celine or chanel had a proper sale stand i think i'd pass out, i'm even getting overwhelmed by the thought. anyway, we found ourselves walking around selfridges with a wang bag on both shoulders (we were coincidently wearing our first born wangs) and then, i don't really know how it happened, but i bought mine. rocco now has little sister jane. sally was a great role model for you all, she decided to save her money (she was carrying the jane shoulder bag, she bid a tough farewell). i however am a shameful human being, but i can actually justify this shiz - i needed a summer bag. and voila, i have one. and she's perfect. it looks like a backpack, but it isn't one. it is covered in wonderful gold zips. it has enough pockets i even have one to put my heinz ketchup sachets in (you can't risk a lack of good ketchup these days). it is a the most delightful toffee colour. and the leather is so soft that the man-friend will be sleeping in the spare bunk so i can cuddle/stroke her. aaah.

rocco

so since the evil slimy thief from work stole my precious alexa, i have been trying to think of what to replace her with. i guess it would have made sense to just buy a replacement alexa, but it just did not feel right. i had my alexa. and now she is gone. also it has gone up like £100+ since i bought it and paying extra for her felt even more wrong. so i have been on the search for my perfect black bag and the rocco won. i did a bit of research about him (he is totes a boy baby) and it sounded so beautiful with the squishy leather and the hardware, but the only problem i am came across was its weight. now i am no one to talk, i am not light in the slightest, but apparently rocco buyers of the world are complaining that he is heavy. i had been working on my biceps and my triceps before the slight life glitch, so the plan was to get back to the weights and take a trip to selfridges and test my bad boys out. i was really actually hoping that when seeing it, i'd despise it (therefore not needing to sell my arm for it) but i fell in love. yes, he is heavier than normal but he only seems to weigh a little more than my chanel quilted classic flap baby and regardless, he is a beauty. and mine (yay!). oh and close companions of mine will be delighted to know that my 1.5 litre bottle of evian fits like a dream.

new in

(jeans - topshop, trainers - converse)

firstly, this week the Q. project blog got over 100 followers on blogger - very happy times! thank you lovely readers. secondly, the Q. project blog got its first hater! - bless them, as much as they hate the blog they still come back and check it. haters gonna hate. thirdly, these are my newbies. so for many a year, i never wore jeans (too chubs) and i then i set myself a target to get myself to a point where i would comfortably wear some. my target was the marathon and the skinny jeans i wanted were j brand, when i trained i envisaged them. i have a weird body type, i have a small waist and a huge heiny and thighs so my jeans tend to gape at the back and are too tight at the thighs. anyway, mama went to the states last week and said i should finally go and try some on so she could bring me some back (cheaper) and i nervously did so. and it was horrible. i went to harvey nicks, had some pretty shoddy customer service, tried my dream pair on and they were too sodding short. i tried on some others, they too were too short. i could have cried. the next day i went and tried levi's curve id bold curve's and they just were not perfect. again, could have cried. so i went to topshop, tried on their leigh's and they were perfect. they are a bargain, sit slightly higher on the hip, there are super amounts of stretch (for the thighs and bottom) and they are long enough (i got the 34") - amazeballs. to be honest they don't feel like a jean, more like a nice stretchy black cotton trouser but until i find my perfect pair of proper jeans, these will do. also got myself some high-tops, i had the low-tops but my mum washed them and turned them yellow (they were white) so thought i'd try a bit of ankle covering.

slip-on

i've just plonked myself in from porridge shopping and thought my little shoe friends deserved some spotlight. so here they are on my big pink trotters amongst my daily mess of a random office brogue (which has not even been worn recently), my cleaning utensil rug and a super old asos grandpa bag that i have revived for work. très exciting.
